Dedicated Phone Number
Dedicated Phone Number
A dedicated phone number is a local number assigned exclusively to your business. Unlike the shared platform number, messages sent from a dedicated number show your own number to customers — no business name prefix needed. It also enables inbound voice calls, voicemail, and call forwarding.
Requirements
- SMS and Dedicated Phone must be enabled on your plan.
Shared vs. dedicated
| Shared number | Dedicated number | |
|---|---|---|
| SMS sending | Messages prefixed with your business name | Messages sent from your own number |
| Inbound SMS | Routed by matching the customer's phone | Routed directly to your account |
| Voice calls | Not available | Full inbound call routing |
| Voicemail | Not available | Available |
| Cost | Included | Included with your plan |
Requesting a number
- Go to Settings → Phone & SMS.
- Click Request a Dedicated Number.
- Optionally enter a preferred 3-digit area code (we'll try to match it).
- Add any notes (e.g. "Same area code as our office line").
- Submit the request.
Our team provisions your number and notifies you when it's ready. This typically takes 1–2 business days.
Managing your number
Once your number is assigned, the Phone & SMS settings page shows:
- Your dedicated number — the assigned phone number.
- Forwarding number — where inbound calls ring. See Voice Calls & Voicemail.
- Voicemail enabled — toggle voicemail on or off.
- Ring timeout — how long calls ring before going to voicemail (10–30 seconds).
- Missed call text-back message — the automatic reply sent when you miss a call.
Changes save automatically.
Before any text notifications can send — whether from a shared platform number or your own dedicated number — you must accept the messaging acceptable use policy (AUP). If you haven't accepted it yet, an acceptance card appears at the top of Settings → Phone & SMS regardless of whether you have a number assigned. Accept it there to turn on SMS notifications. The app tracks which policy version you've accepted so compliance updates can be rolled out clearly.
10DLC registration (US A2P SMS)
For US messaging, carriers require 10DLC campaign registration on your dedicated local number before large-scale application-to-person (A2P) SMS is fully trusted. Registration is provisioned on the number record by the platform (there is no self-serve campaign wizard inside every account). If outbound SMS is blocked for compliance, you'll typically see guidance in product or logs referencing registration status — contact support to complete or troubleshoot registration.
Why outbound SMS might be blocked
- The platform may enforce a 10DLC gate for numbers without an approved campaign (exact behavior depends on platform configuration).
- Shared platform numbers and certain exempt numbers may still send traffic under platform policies — your dedicated line behaves like your brand once assigned.
If your number is not yet registered, you'll see a notice when trying to send messages from the inbox in some cases. See also Messaging Compliance & 10DLC.
Troubleshooting
My request has been pending for several days. Number provisioning is handled by our team. If it's been more than 2 business days, contact support with your request details.
I see a 10DLC warning when sending messages. Your dedicated number needs to be registered for A2P messaging. Contact support to start the 10DLC registration process.
Can I keep my number if I change plans? Your dedicated number stays with your account as long as your plan includes the dedicated phone feature. If you downgrade to a plan without it, the number may be released.
