SMS Notifications

SMS Notifications

Send automated text messages to your customers for appointment reminders, job updates, and more. Requires a dedicated business phone number.

Setting up SMS

  1. Go to Settings → Notification Preferences to configure notification types.
  2. Your dedicated phone number is managed in Settings → Phone & SMS. See Dedicated Phone Number for setup.
  3. Toggle the notification types you want enabled:
    • Appointment reminder — sent before a scheduled job.
    • Job scheduled — notifies the customer when a job is added to the schedule.
    • Schedule confirmed — sent after a route is published, telling the customer their arrival window (e.g., "Arriving 9:00am - 11:00am"). Only sent for flexible and preferred scheduling modes.
    • Job completed — confirms the work is done.
    • SMS reminders — general text reminders.
    • Arriving soon — alerts the customer when a tech is on their way (requires route optimization).

What customers receive

Customers receive text messages at the phone number on their profile. Messages include your company name and relevant details (date, time, service description). Customers can reply to your dedicated number, and replies appear in Two-Way Conversations.

Consent & opt-out — only message customers who expect your texts (service reminders, transactional updates). Honor STOP replies and Messaging Compliance & 10DLC. Messages sent from the shared platform number may prepend identifying text so recipients know which business is texting.

Dedicated phone number

Your dedicated phone number is a real phone number assigned to your business. It's used for:

  • Outbound SMS notifications and reminders.
  • Inbound SMS replies from customers.
  • Missed call detection (see Missed Call Text-Back).

The number appears as your caller ID so customers recognize who's reaching out.

Troubleshooting

Customers aren't receiving text messages. Verify the customer has a valid mobile phone number on their profile. Landlines cannot receive SMS. Also confirm that the notification type is toggled on in Settings → Notification Preferences.

Messages show my business name in brackets before the text. This happens when you're using the shared platform number. Messages sent from a dedicated phone number don't include the prefix.

I see a 10DLC warning when sending. US carriers require 10DLC registration for business SMS. Contact support to complete registration for your dedicated number.

Tips

  • Make sure every customer has a valid phone number on their profile — customers without a phone number won't receive SMS.
  • Start with appointment reminders — they reduce no-shows significantly.
  • Review your notification settings periodically as you add new features to your plan.
