Ad-Hoc Crews

Ad-Hoc Crews

Sometimes two or more techs need to run as one vehicle for the day — heavy equipment, training rides, or overflow help. In Route Optimization, Form Crew creates an ad-hoc crew for that schedule day only. It does not change permanent crew membership.

How to form an ad-hoc crew

  1. Open the route schedule day view for the date you're planning (draft).
  2. Use Form Crew (or the guided crew flow your account shows) to select two or more solo techs.
  3. The optimizer treats them as a single assignee for that day so multi-person work can be sequenced together.
  4. Publish the route when ready so the live schedule and field app update.

Dissolving for the day

When the ad-hoc crew is no longer needed, use the workflow in the route planner to dissolve or clear the ad-hoc grouping for that day. Jobs that were already placed on the draft remain on the board; adjust assignments and re-publish as needed.

Tips

  • Ad-hoc crews are for daily routing, not org structure — keep your permanent crews in Crews for templates and standing assignments.
  • If jobs are skipped for qualification reasons, check Service Categories & Qualifications.
